Make Payments and More on Your Watch with Rocket Mortgage for Wearables

At Quicken Loans, we’re obsessed with finding a better way. This includes giving our clients the most convenient experiences possible. So, now you can make a payment by simply tapping your smartwatch.

That’s right. We’re bringing the Rocket Mortgage for Wearables companion app to the Apple Watch as well as Wear OS by Google. If you want to make a payment by just tapping your watch, we’ve got the lowdown on how to do it.

Getting the App

Whether you’re using an Apple Watch or Wear OS, the way to get our watch companion app will be to download the Rocket Mortgage app on your phone.

On the Apple Watch, you’ll receive the companion app when you sync your watch with your phone after download.

Once you sign in to your account on your phone, it’ll be linked with the app on your watch. For added security, when you use the watch app, you may occasionally be required to enter the last four digits of your Social Security number for re-authentication.

On the other hand, if you’re using Wear OS, you’ll be able to download the app directly from the Google Play Store on your watch.

From there, you’ll sign in directly on the watch. You’ll be able to have your credentials remembered so you don’t have to do this every time. Again, to protect your identity, you may occasionally have to reenter the last four digits of your Social Security number just to make sure you’re still in full control of your account.

What You Can Do with the App

Now that you have the app, what can you do with it?

To begin with, you’ll be able to see any loans that are currently in process if you’re trying to buy or refinance, as well as any loans you’re currently making payments on.

With an Existing Mortgage

For those with an existing mortgage, you’ll be able to make the payment that’s due each month with a simple tap of your watch. We’ll use the bank account we have on file. If you have more than one bank account to choose from, you’ll have to use your phone.

At this point, you can’t make any special payment transactions (including extra payments toward the principal or escrow) with the watch, but we’re always looking to make improvements, so make sure to keep the app updated to take advantage of new features as we develop them.

During the Mortgage Process

If you’re working your way through the mortgage process – for buying a new home or refinancing your current home – you’ll be able to see at a glance the number of items we still need from you, as well as how many we’re working on and how many have been completed.

If you want to take action on any of these items, you’ll be able to do so by accessing the mobile app on your phone or tablet or uploading documents through the website.

Using your smartwatch is just one of many easy ways to make your payment. You can always pick the one that works best for you.
